Garland Animal Services
The
Garland Animal Shelter has live traps which Garland Residents can borrow for Nuisance
animals such as Raccoons and Opossums. The traps must be picked up because
Animal Control will not deliver them and they require a fully refundable deposit of $25.00
for small traps and $50.00 for larger traps. When
the animal is caught, call the animal shelter at (972)205-3570 and press 4.
They will dispatch an animal control officer to pick up the trap and the animal.
The trap can be kept for 6 days or longer if requested; if you do not call then
they will keep the deposit.

Sir. Fixalot Animal
Trapping Services
Keith
will follow the Garland Animal Services guidelines to help neighbors in trapping
animals. Here
is the process to get Sir Fixalot (Keith) to assist setting Garland's Live traps
within the
Garland City limits:
-
He
will pick up the trap at the Animal Shelter and pay the deposit.
-
He
will deliver the trap and bait it.
-
He
will show the owner
the receipt for the deposit and they will pay him back.
-
After the animal is caught...
-
The
owner will call the animal shelter
number at (972)205-3570 and Press 4.
-
Place
a request for the Animal Control to pick
up the animal and the trap.
-
Then
call Keith at 972-414-3272 to let him know the animal has been caught.
-
Keith
will then go back to the shelter, collect the deposit and return it to the
owners house.
-
Keith
will charge his normal hourly rate with a ceiling of
two hours and he will supply the bait.
-
If
the trap is lost or stolen then he will keep the deposit because the Animal
Services will keep his deposit.
-
It
is recommended that household pets be kept away from the trap. Keith will
reset the trap one time if a household pet gets trapped but will charge $25
for each time after that.
-
For
Humane reasons; traps will not be set on long weekends if animal control
is closed. We do not want any animal to die in the trap due to heat,
lack of water or starvation.
-
Sir
Fixalot makes no guarantees that the animal will be caught but the Opossum
below was caught in one night.
Here
is an Opossum which was caught in the Garland Live Trap, the owner called animal
control and they relocated him to a beautiful farm in Vermont.
 |
| This is a large trap recommended for
the Opossum and requires a $50 deposit |
 |
| The Opossum was content in this very
humane cage along with the can of cat food. |
 |
| He smiled big for the camera. |
 |
| You can see he is not injured...just
tired of me taking pictures. |
